Candace Hilligoss was involved in acting from the early days of elementary school plays. After three years at the University of Iowa, she came to New York to study acting at the American Theatre Wing, and made her professional debut doing summer stock in Pennsylvania. She acted at the Cape Cod Playhouse, toured with Nina Foch in "Idiot's Delight", turned up in New York TV shows and, as one of the world-famous Copa Girls, danced at the Copacabana night spot. In 1961, she was spirited off to Lawrence, Kansas, to star in Carnival of Souls (1962), the spooky cult classic; she later reinforced her horror rep playing the ingenue in the Connecticut-made The Curse of the Living Corpse (1964).
Candace Kirkpatrick is an award winning "actress who commands attention," a "keen performer who breathes life and vitality into each of her roles." She is a method-trained actress in Stanislavski, Uta Hagen, and Meisner with a BFA and MFA. Candace began acting before first grade and continued doing so throughout all of her schooling. Unfortunately, neither her mother nor her grandmother were fans. The former believed that she should use her brains to pursue something more profitable, and the latter that she should not pursue higher education at all but rather get married. They were surprised when Candace graduated Valedictorian from high school and earned a full ride for academics and theatre to college. To further their shock, she graduated summa cum laude, Valedictorian from college, with a BFA and won an acting scholarship for graduate school at FSU/Asolo Conservatory. Her grandmother's response: "Candace; they are going to put you out to pasture." While at FSU, she did print work, local commercials, and before graduation earned her professional Equity card. With her MFA in Meisner, she moved to New York City to continue training and acting. Candace worked off-Broadway, regionally, and several shows internationally. At the time, she also had a few small roles in film, television soaps, music videos, industrials, commercials, and TV pilots. Candace married, left the business, and raised a family-- all the while writing and directing for schools and churches. Now after more than two decades, she has returned to the industry doing print work, audio books, industrials, short films. She can be seen as Janet in the faith based crime drama Vindication, Sister Anne in the tv pilot Angels Unaware with award winning artists Karen Abercrombie and Cameron Arnett, and has 3 more films on deck, hopefully to be completed this year. She considers herself blessed to live now in Tennessee with her supportive husband and three wonderful children. Candace loves the arts and believes that media can inspire, uplift, and impact if done with excellence and integrity. She desires to do work that truthfully expresses the human condition while showing there is great beauty in redemption. Colossians 3:23,24 Romans 12:10, 11 "Life beats down and crushes our souls and theatre reminds us that we have one. At least, the type of theatre that I am interested in; that is, theatre that moves an audience. You have the opportunity to literally impact the lives of people if they work on material that has integrity. But today, most actors simply want to be famous. Well, being an actor was never supposed to be about fame and money. Being an actor is a calling because you've been given the ability, the gift to inspire humanity." --Sanford Meisner
